Keep scissors with you. If you pack your scissors then you won't be able to cut open the box to get the scissors.
My dad gave me a tool kit as a going away gift and it has some very nice scissors but unfortunately they were in a shrink wrapped container and I couldn't get it open without scissors. So I went to the store and bought a pair of scissors but I have since misplaced them. Luckily I first used them to open the shrink wrap so I had a back up pair.
