Alpine Loop

During another trip this summer I spent a few weeks in Utah and drove up Provo Canyon, through the Alpine Loop and walked around Cascade Springs with my sister and nieces. The pictures do not really do it justice, but I will share them anyway...

Spring Break

OK so I'm a little behind. Rusty and I went home to Utah for Spring Break (about a month ago). Here are some pictures from the trip. We didn't do anything too exciting but Rusty had fun playing in the snow and picking up the girls from school.

The next visit...

Shortly after my dad was here my sister and nieces came for a visit- - I miss them a lot so it was amazing having them here in my new home.

We went to the beach and Rusty actually got in the water- usually he just barks at the waves and runs away.





We also went to the zoo in Norfolk. It was a fun day- but way too hot- we were all rather grumpy after being in the heat and humidity here.







We also took a short trip up to DC. (the first of three this summer- I have been meaning to get up there all year and was giving myself a hard time about not going, I guess I more than made up for it).





I also took them to the Yankee Candle Store (my friends pointed out that Virginia is an odd place for Yankee Candle seeing how it's in the South, and then of course we had to have a debate about whether or not Virginia is really part of the South- I argue that it is since it was the capitol of the confederacy). Anyhow, there is a little show in the candle store- much like Chucky Cheese, ironically it also featured mice and they sung about cheese. My nieces really liked it so I guess that's all that matters.



And of course we had to go to CW (Colonial Williamsburg) here are a couple pictures- they aren't too exciting.

I've also been watching the Love Boat

which is more entertaining than you might think, I'm especially enjoying the laugh track.

I tonight I found this- pretty freaking funny (as my niece Bella might say).



It would be better with the original crew not the next generation- but fun anyway.

Arctic Unicorns

My friend posted about narwhalls on her blog and it made me think of my nieces- they'd probably like narwhalls because they are kind of like a cross between a dolphin and a unicorn- two of my nieces favorite animals. So Robin- show this to the girls!

100th post

It's hard to believe that this is the 100th post- who knew I could say so much about so little? I pondered what to include in such a monumental post- and decided to share some of the cards my nieces have sent me- here are some of my favorites...

And of course I had to include a picture of Rusty (with some of my homework) I think he was cold and was trying to burrow under the blanket- snuggling with my DVD player.

I bet you can't wait for the 200th post.

Poop

A while ago my sister sent me this text message...

(It will help to know- Bella is my 4 year old niece and Mila is my 7 year old niece)

"Bella just said, 'poop is a funny word,' Mila and I laughed- Bella said- 'see I told you.'"

Around town

A while ago I said I'd post some pictures from around town and I'm finally coming through. My mom was in town this week and I took the pictures as we walked around Williamsburg.

This isn't a great picture (below) but I posted it anyway- it's the edge of campus.

Warning

Never let a four year old play with glitter. Ever.

My niece got a hold of a bottle of glitter and dumped the WHOLE thing on her head. Her scalp is glittering green. They slept over last night and as soon as she got into bed she starting getting itchy- thanks to the glitter that was now all over everything. We tried to rinse it out in the sink- who knew glitter is impervious to water. So her scalp stayed green and itchy for the night. This morning I had the bright idea to use a toothbrush to rub the glitter out of her scalp (I used a new toothbrush). Well the toothbrush worked much better than the water but it also flung glitter everywhere. Bella is covered with glitter (even more than before), I'm covered with glitter, the chair is covered with glitter, the floor is covered in glitter, the dogs (all three of them) have tracked through the glitter and they are all now covered (lightly) with glitter. 

Seriously people- stay far away from glitter! 

Pink

I had to work a somewhat long day today and didn't want to leave Rusty home in doggy jail all day so I asked my sister and nieces (they are 4 and 7) if they'd watch him for me. They very kindly consented.

After work I met them at Target to do a little shopping. My younger niece hopped in my cart and I noticed that she had marks on her face and I thought she might be burnt or something- but on closer inspection I realized that she had just drawn on her face with pink marker.

So off we went, I needed to get some cooking utensils and she helped me pick some out- we had several color choices and I let her decide- considering that she is a four year old girl it should come as no surprise that she choose pink. 

After Target I stopped by and picked up Rusty- it wasn't until we got in my car that I noticed that his eyelashes are (no surprise)- pink.
